Vivara takes its name from that of its founder C. Vijayam Varadan (CVV) whose association with the fragrance industry spanned many decades. Starting in his teens as an understudy to his father, C. Vijayam, a representative of leading European perfumery house in India, CVV gained valuable experience that stood him in good stead when ventured out on his own.
In 1976, CVV and his wife Padma set-up VV Deepa Aromatics Private Limited in collaboration with DIPA S.A of Switzerland to manufacture international quality blends for export to the USSR. Within a few years, VV Deepa was recognized as a pioneer in exports of fragrance blends from India and won numerous awards from the Government of India and its agencies.
After his demise in 1987, Padma took charge of the Company and steered it through numerous challenges that arose following the collapse of the USSR. She was passionate about having a retail presence for our perfumery products and established the VIVA Collection range of spray perfumes.
Introduction of a scented candle range quickly brought in many corporate enquiries for customized gift packs. Inclusion of handicraft items in these gift packs led to our focus on ethnic objets d’art. Today, we offer an unique fusion of fragrance blends, scented products and exclusive gift ideas.
Both CVV and Padma believed in following high ethical values; transparency and commitment in dealing with customers and maintaining demanding standards of quality in manufacturing processes and we continue to uphold these values.
Our group now comprises VV Deepa Aromatics that manufactures fragrance blends and scented
products; C C Balu & Company that sources and manufactures handicrafts; Vijayam Varadan & Co that focuses on exports and handles corporate enquiries for a mix of fragrance and handicraft products.
